Dragon Tail

I've been writing trying to incorporate nature in my pieces and this one was inspired by a beat created by Netuno. It had a very Mario vibe to it and reminded me of the tugs and toils of him and Princess Peach. I had just watched How to Train Your Dragon recently and imagined dragons in soaring and roaming in the lands of Sarawak. This piece was adapted for a HitRECord submission

Prompts from Makhluk Seni for WELP, a movement to 'weaponise' love in all forms of expression. Prompts were released throughout the month of February for writers to submit any short form of writing.

Prompt 24: So Sit Down
Do you have a story to tell?
So sit down. Overwhelmed by ghosts from the past?
Duduk kejap. Sit. Down. Breathe. Write.

Tell us Yours through the click clacks of your keyboard and the slow drying of ink on parchment as you recollect your stories of Love.

(A mashup of Sarawak, Mario and How To Train Your Dragon)

Waking up to the clouds embracing the mountain ranges

This is where my heart belongs

My fingertips touch the sparkle in the air

made by the sun rays that love the mist

My shoulders rise with the lightness of the sunrise.

A symphony of dragons sifting through the clouds

Murmurations of Stormflies creating

iridescent rainbows in panoramic view

Vibrancy of rushing swirls and spins

turn the sky into a kaleidoscope of colours.

Brother Crimson sits by the porch with his bamboo cup

Tuak (rice wine) sneaking down his pipes

as the clouds clear the pepper fields

Brother Keylime walk through the paddy fields to get to the well

to collect sky juice to bring back to the Barok.

The time comes for the gathering

Furies circle the canopy of limestone caves

that rise as high as the heavens

Walls of cascading toadstool waterfalls

Brother Crimson climbs to the edge of the ledge

calling out to Brother Keylime to catch the sight

of a streamline of rare dragons fly.

He jumps, waiting for a nosedive to form

A somersault in between

Landing in the water like diving into a pool of gold coins

Steely cold and familiar

His first thought was:

Why did she leave?

Brother Keylime jests,

"No treasure there brother

Not unless you dive deep enough"

They both sit by the pool of fairy dust and pixie streams

He sees the eyes that dream of a day when she returns

He knows this is a tale that has no end

Not unless he tames the fire within his heart

and let the ashes bathe him as he did in the lagoon.

Brother Crimson sighs and smiles like

how the night greets the day at twilight

A smidge of conscious regret

A pinch of accepting grace

A glimmer of an undeniable possibility.

They make their way back to the hills

Sun setting painting the sky pink and rose

Furies following them in streamline

Stormflies not in sight as they camouflage

with the dimming light of magic hour

Brother Keylime knows it is time

for the dragons to find solace

with the inevitable till the next sunrise

His final thought is that we keep our treasures close to our hearts though it is out of our sights.
