In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. another stream of consciousness to wrap up the first half of 2020, after 6 months of being harassed by my ex, the psychosis and medication and finding footing to what is supposed to be my next phase forward, I really didn't know what to do anymore with myself with the countless resets. This project has helped and working with the team on the prompts, mindfulness videos and putting together the -ebook, it has made 2020 fruitful. I hate staying and being a victim of any of my circumstances, this is how I fight my own battles that I choose to fight. Day 10 Water you doing? A final piece to tie the bouquet,⠀ After days of crafting away.⠀ Now that we’re at the end,⠀ Which wounds are left to mend?⠀ ⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni,⠀w e ask you:⠀ We water our plants to keep them alive,⠀ How do we water ourselves to do the same? #qua...

Growing Seeds

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. This is a prose from a flow of consciousness where I dive into the core of what goes through my mind on a daily basis. It's a constant cycle of these thoughts and many would say that I am too complex for my own good. It comes from the endless processing of possibilities to ensure what would be the best outcome. Day 9 S eeds of Me Seeds. From the wind that spread them far beyond, to the soil that nourished them by the pond.⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni, w e ask you: Out of all the seeds in you, which one made your favorite part about you? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 Dear Journal, Living day to day and finding sense in uncertainty because inherently difficult when things all seem to revolve around tasks and circumstances that don't have an end. Tidal Wave

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. My years since I left the healthcare industry have felt like me being stuck in a constant roundabout. It may be a different roundabout each time but it still feels like I am starting from square one at different points, making little progress and recalibrating or readjusting but that is life. We don't  Day 8 Like grass under my feet Lately, I’ve been swaying in and out of daydreams,⠀ Shifting thoughts from “could have” to “what if?”⠀ ⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni, w e ask you: In these times of uncertainty, what is grounding you? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 Every day comes with the waves When you have the strength, You can dive in deeper beneath it Deep within is a sense of weightlessness Fully submerged and emerge after it passes Find solace in a breath before the next wave comes....

Orchestrated Bouquet

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. These flowers have significant memories attached to them as I grew up. I used to dry flowers all the time to make potpourri bouquets to remember these memories. I don't get flowers often and prefer not to be a part of the commercialism of it but it's nice to get them once in a while. Day 6 My Wallflowers Melor dan melati,⠀ Iris and lillies,⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni, w e ask you: If you could assign 3 flowers to your loved ones, what are they, and who do they belong to? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 Babies breath dries well in the sun, they remain delicate and dainty, They stay as long as they aren't disturbed These are the ones who have remained for as long as they have. One To Trees

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. Even after being back in Kuala Lumpur for 7 years, it's been a very nomadic season for me, not being able to let roots develop. This city was where I grew up in and made a home but it still feels like I am meant to be somewhere else. Day 3 Me, a tree Yesterday our feet became roots,⠀ Today, we turned into trees!⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni, ⠀ We ask you: If my body is a tree, what would be inside? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 Most days, I feel like weeds, flowering in the meadows and sidewalks. I am there when I can be, when the circumstances permit and there is space for me to inhabit.  Other times, once my season has passed, I wither and find a new place. Incapable of growing deep roots, removed when I am not wanted, Unsure of how long I can live in these cracks. When I find myse...

Swimming Cyclones

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. Self-care is something that I struggle to grasp, self-value seems to be a thing I don't understand or can't maintain according to some people. I see myself as a martyr for a reason and it was never a negative thing for me but it may have put me in certain dispositions were I get taken for granted or used. I feel that I give in to circumstances too often and will always choose others first before myself. Day 7 Why Balut Nangka? | #HomegrownMakhlukSenis ⠀ Dressed in white or blue, some are in green.⠀ To the lalat buah, protected and unseen.⠀ The mangga asked the nangka,⠀ “What designer are you wearing, eh?”⠀ ⠀ Dear Makhluk Senis, w e ask you: From homemade masks to medical face shields, How is your community caring for one another? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 We took a...

Roots

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. One thing that has grown on me being back home, or more like what makes me feel at home was my bookshelf. A collection of graphic novels, classics, chapbooks from local writers and fantasy fiction. It is one thing that I would not want to part with and be the main weight that I carry with me if I end up somewhere else. Day 2 My feet are taking root Our feet are starting to itch⠀ Dear Makhluk Seni, w e ask you: What types of roots have your feet turned into? #quarantineinitiative #grassroots #PACT2020 #NAPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2020 Nails ingrained into hard wooden shelves Holding books bound with embroidery threads Dust, mold and ants crawling between the pages Feet wearing boots laces with words Ticking tapping twirling Wind flipping pages and snatching bookmarks Soaked in rain and dried with lightning Footnotes read in t...

Baking Dreams

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation. During the first round of MCO, I started baking a lot during the hours that I could not sleep and feeding my housemates with random baked goods. It's been therapeutic and meditative. NaPoWriMo: Crash Landing

This prompt was taken from Makhluk Seni for #NaPoWrimo2018 Day 9 Like Falling into the sky. If I was an astronaut drifting in space I have lost my tether line My saving grace Left cold with no gravity No way to save me in this case. I would let the stars envelope me like a blanket Savour their warmth and light Sleep on meteorites and hold on for dear life Hope that this lucky chunk would bring me back to Earth. The atmosphere would burn strip my pride away The clouds would pass Sweep away the decay Leave me with just skin and bone For all to see in the bright of day. My fingers reach out toward the comets I remember the times when I was wild A light breeze lifts my arms I soar and indulge for a while I land, my toes grasp the grass The security makes me smile. Deep down I know this is home Land is where I belong It took falling from the sky to make me realise all this time I was wrong All this time, you stayed You were right all a...

NaPoWriMo: Infinity Wars

#NaPoWriMo2018  #Day28 prompt by Poetry Cafe KL #NaPoWriMo #epitaph #death Write an epitaph in memory of the death of all or any of the following - yourself, the world, a dream, an idea, a person, an everyday object, anything that you loved but has now been laid to rest #RIP Today the sun sets over unfinished journals and unwritten scripts of stories that would only be known to those who were in the battle, tucked away in the folds of disappointment, layers of regret and ashes of defeat. The light dims over many obstacles, broken bones and broken spirits of the voices that faught its way through the caves and valleys only to be silenced by time, space, reality, power, mind and soul. - Swit Marie 1819H 30th April 2018 Taman Bahagia
