Tidal Wave

In the month of April 2020, Makhluk Seni kicked off #HomegrownMakhlukSenis with 10 days of prompts, mindfulness activities and goals to help us get through the isolation.

My years since I left the healthcare industry have felt like me being stuck in a constant roundabout. It may be a different roundabout each time but it still feels like I am starting from square one at different points, making little progress and recalibrating or readjusting but that is life. We don't

Day 8 Like grass under my feet

Lately, I’ve been swaying in and out of daydreams,⠀

Shifting thoughts from “could have” to “what if?”⠀

Dear Makhluk Seni, we ask you: In these times of uncertainty, what is grounding you?

Every day comes with the waves

When you have the strength,

You can dive in deeper beneath it

Deep within is a sense of weightlessness

Fully submerged and emerge after it passes

Find solace in a breath before the next wave comes.

As we swim to chase the waves

Or wait in place to rest

We grow weary

Another wave comes unexpectedly

We find ourselves capsized

Tossed topsy turvy

We take in water instead of breath

Struggle to stay above the surface

Find the realisation that this wave will pass

Look for the surface and go upwards.

Some times it feels like constant waves of current things smashing through

Nowhere to go and too far away

to swim back to shore

Unsure of the uncertain fate that lies with the current times

Unable to make a clear decision in the storm.

As we strive to survive

Hope the storm breaks

Considering life in the midst of turbulence

Another swimmer comes through in a distance

Swims against the currents to reach out

Sinking doesn't seem like an option anymore

Just the sight of another person in the same currents

Strength is found

Now waves feel like part of the journey

We catch out breath and swimming is possible

Moving forward and waves will come and go

Able to ride the waves and be in synch in the motion

Finding that breath is strength

Passing each wave is a victory

We can keep living and continue our journey

That is closure closer to our destination
