SY: Let It Rain

NaPoWriMo Day 5
Prompt taken from Spill The Ink Poetry Lab
"Write a poem from the perspective of the rain. What kind of rain is it? When does it happen? How do(es) it/he/she/they feel? Where does it land? On whose shoulders? On whichrooftop? What does it see?" #2017inkedwallsday05 #2017inkedwallsprompt05 #NaPoWriMo2017 #NaPoWriMo #NPWM

The sirens are blaring once again Blinding flares calling for our attention Flashes get more and more frequent With deafening roars following it soon after That is my call to action. No more blue skies, Everything turns grey My peripheral vision goes blur My eyes on the prize All my focus is on the drop zone. The scouters get sent out in the first wave They merely send a warning Telling all to take cover Take whatever you can save Because soon it will all be over. We gather and say a little prayer There is power in numbers We, the sturdy ones Prepare to strike at the peak of the ambush Right after the first-liners are done. My comrades and I take the leap of faith Right out of the nimbus carrier For yet another adventure Another Hoorah! Another Kawabanga! My mission is simple I fall… hard. Free falling is for the weak We have an unbreakable streak We are unstoppable. With wind pushing us back This joy ride is exhilarating Thrills and chills from cutting through the atmosphere Here comes the storm. It’s time to let it rain. Let it rain… Let it rain…
