Collision

Inspired by The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks, a show that reminded me that diversity is hard to overcome but not impossible. What started out as encouragement from #thebestestfriend, turned into a collaboration!

When two worlds collide,
It is then that they must decide,
To throw their love away,
Or if it's enough to make them stay.

Like chalk and cheese,
Or apple and oranges if you please,
Differences outnumber the similarities,
But true love knows no boundaries.

Two different backgrounds,
Right down to the way they sound,
But perfect for each other,
And so the bull rider fell in love with the art major.

He fought valiantly in the name of their love,
While she immortalized them with words as soft as the winged dove,
Their love was no delicate flower,
But a sturdy tree growing slowly by the hour.

And while there were clashes in their diversity,
It strengthened them to overcome adversity,
Filling in the gaps to create a whole,
Making each other increasingly bold.

There was nothing this uncanny pairing could not withstand,
Even though there were no prospects of a wedding band,
But with conventional expectations there were not bothered,
By society they would not be smothered.

For it was their life to live,
Some days there was more give,
But there was also so much to take,
All the choices however were always for them to make.

And so their story goes on,
Pages of it never torn,
A tale of resilience of a bull rider,
Who fell in love with an art major.

JN is the one who doesn't take chances, but she's working on that. She's powering through life, one day at a time. Even with all that life throws her, you'll always see her with a smile. She's a hopeless romantic, hopeless beyond repair. You may say she's a dreamer, but she's got her feet on the ground.

SB is a conflicted soul of sorts, who is mad enough to go chase after what she really loves as opposed to conform to society and her mother's idea of a successful person. She prays she makes it in life, because she will not be able to tolerate the nagging that would follow if she doesn't. Her inspiration comes from everything around her, as well as made up situations in her head. Good luck distinguishing between the two.

2020

I  wrote this on the flight travelling back to Malaysia in 2020, leaving Australia after what would have been the last time I see the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I was observing the people around me, it was an 8 hour flight with a lot of turbulence, who would have know that 2020 would be that kind of year as well. It is funny how things tell you of what will come in its own little ways. This Is Malaysia

Recently Swit Marie has gotten more active on the HitRECord platform and started working on new material and collaborations. This was definitely the highlight of 2020 for her years of writing in the past few years. Reaching an international audience and being part of a community of creatives through this project involving over 180 contributors.
