The Muruku Murmuration

We could say this is The Murukku Murmuration. It's about time the Muruku Sisterhood write about the thing we love most aside from our friend and family (and each other, of course). Here is to Murukku! Twisted as we are, indeed it is fit for us to be called the Muruku Sisterhood.

Vennai!
Godhumai!
Manapparai!
Achu!
Mullu!
Poondu!
Kaara! Pakoda!
Arisi! Besan Chakli!
Thenkuzhal! Thengai paal!
Chegodilu!
Kai murukku!

Last but not least Fish murukku!

Hrmmm....

If you were a murukku, which will you be?
Would you be the type that is swirly and curly,
Would you be spicy with a ton of heat?
Or the type with a crunch that can't be beat?

I'd be that murukku that is too spicy,
With a crunch only certain people like,
Handmade with love sometimes by hands so tiny,
I am not the mass-produced type.

I'd be the curly swirly murukku,
The oddball with a little heat too,
Most of the time too nutty and crunchy,
But always there to help cure the munchies.

I'd be that cocktail of strings and spice,
With greens, squares, reds and nuts,
The snack you can have before banana leaf rice,
So addictive you have to accept without any buts.

Whether sweet, salty or spicy,
They're all equally as tasty,
They come in different sizes and shapes,
Each bite is like a sweet escape.

Murukku is fit for any location and occasion,
You don't have to wait for it to be Diwali,
But I have to admit, the homemade ones our ammas fry with passion,
Those are the best muruku undoubtingly.

Together we make a very interesting variety pack,
Flavour, spice & zest we definitely do not lack,
We're not for the faint-hearted and some poeple can't take the heat,
But to those we say get water or choke on it.

Everywhere

SB is a conflicted soul of sorts, who is mad enough to go chase after what she really loves as opposed to conform to society and her mother's idea of a successful person. She prays she makes it in life, because she will not be able to tolerate the nagging that would follow if she doesn't. Her inspiration comes from everything around her, as well as made up situations in her head. Good luck distinguishing between the two.

SY is a 'Jacqueline of all trades' who loves wearing plaids.
She doesn't believe in things that fade and fulfills the promises that she made.
She seeks the hearts of the troubled, to be a listener in times when things are doubled.
She's the kind who stands in the gap, who will only call it quits when it's a wrap.

JN is the one who doesn't take chances, but she's working on that. She's powering through life, one day at a time. Even with all that life throws her, you'll always see her with a smile. She's a hopeless romantic, hopeless beyond repair. You may say she's a dreamer, but she's got her feet on the ground.
